illuminating a utility company’s 100-year story

traverse city light & power has been a valued greenlight client for over five years. a few years ago, the community- owned utility celebrated its 100th anniversary…a milestone event to be sure. the client wanted to commemorate the anniversary in a way that captured in compelling detail how it has served the community through the years. greenlight developed a comprehensive campaign across several media that connected with the community on multiple levels. we developed a 100th anniversary logo, theme line, web banners, light pole banners, a commemorative calendar, and executed a strong public relations effort. we even created a 100th anniversary commemorative book that brought to life the tcl&p story and how the utility company had “grown up” with the community. the book featured stories from families and businesses who had been customers since tcl&p’s early days. it was made available to the community for free and quantity soon ran out. the book received a gold addy award in one of michigan’s top creativity competitions. overall, the campaign created a great deal of good will throughout the community.
